Congratulations to our first 32 fully trained volunteers!

A massive congratulations to our first 32 fully trained volunteers who have recently completed their training. The training consists of either of an evening a week over 6 weeks, or over a weekend and also includes a safeguarding qualification. We are currently evaluating the training to ensure that all volunteers get the best possible experience.  The volunteers are now looking at what they would like to do in Carlisle Youth Zone, whether it’s Junior Club, Senior Club, sports and creative arts, or any of the other areas we have to offer. There are also opportunities to build their skill base through other training.

From Claire – Had a brilliant time on the course! It was really great getting to know others and can’t wait for CYZ to officially open, to meet even more people and to get involved with the young people to start really making a difference. It’s fantastic being part of such a huge new project!!

The volunteers have already been busy helping out in our Saturday events which have been taking place in Carlisle City Centre every Saturday in March. The events have been great fun and there couldn’t have been a better beginning for the volunteers.

From Michael – Just to say thanks to all for making the last 5 Wednesday nights so enjoyable. Can’t wait till we are all putting the training into practice and sharing experiences.

The interest in volunteering has been phenomenal – more training courses will be run very soon once we are in the CYZ building. This will also provide the opportunity for volunteers to have a look around and get used to the building.

From Michelle – Great course, varied enough to keep us interested but with enough theory that we actually learnt some key facts.
