Your child matters

Our Inclusion team will ensure that with your consent, the right support will be given to your child or young person particularly in the first few sessions to help them take part, enjoy themselves and begin to build relationships with staff and their peers.

At Carlisle Youth Zone young people with an additional need or disability has access to regular activities and events through the support of the Inclusion team and the wider staff team. We monitor member’s behaviour at all sessions to ensure that all children and young people are able to take part in activities so that they can be included and feel safe. Please see our policies for further details or speak to a member of the Inclusion team.

The Inclusion team monitors the on-going participation and progression of young people, who are encouraged to have a voice and an active role in shaping the future of the inclusive programme.

Next steps

The First step is for your child to become a member of Carlisle Youth Zone, so that they can access the activities on offer.

Every young person with an additional need or disability is invited to meet with a member of our Inclusion team. At the meeting, a tour of the youth zone will be given and you will be able to meet some of our dedicated staff, ask any questions you want about what we do and what we offer. At this point we will need to know about any needs your child or young person has so that we can ensure that their time at Carlisle Youth Zone is as enjoyable, safe and rewarding as possible.

One-to-one support

It is important to note that Carlisle Youth Zone is unable to offer 1:1 personal care to young people attending Carlisle Youth Zone activities, however we do allow for families to organise their own specialist care for their young person to attend regular activities within the Youth Zone.
