Trust & Grant Donations
The Benfield Motors Charitable Trust is supporting our Rural Outreach Programme, which supports young people living in the rural areas around Carlisle to access the Youth Zone. This includes both helping young people to travel into the city (for example through subsidised bus fares), and working with them in their communities, making use of local facilities such as village halls and Multi-Use Games Areas. This is a perfect complement to the donation of a VW Touran vehicle from Benfield Volkswagen Carlisle, and we are very grateful to the Benfield Motors Charitable Trust for their support of this key part of our work.

Local insurance brokers H&H Group recently nominated Carlisle Youth Zone as their chosen charity for the national Aviva 110 Community Fund. We were delighted to receive a Highly Commended Award for our Rural Outreach Programme, along with £1,000 prize money towards this important aspect of our work, which ensures that young people from north Cumbria can benefit from CYZ no matter where they live.
The Big Lottery Fund is supporting our Senior Club (for young people aged 13-21) with a grant of £297,860 over three years. This is a central part of our work and we are delighted that it has the support of such a major funder.
The Big Lottery Fund distributes half of the National Lottery good cause funding across the UK. The Fund is committed to bringing real improvements to communities and the lives of people most in need.
BBC Children in Need is supporting our work with young people who have disabilities or learning difficulties, with a grant of £82,676 over three years. This will enable Carlisle Youth Zone to be fully inclusive from the beginning, supporting these young people to take part in new activities, make new friends, and learn skills for living independently. We are thrilled that BBC Children in Need is supporting this very valuable aspect of our work.
The Hadfield Trust is supporting residential opportunities for Carlisle Youth Zone’s members. Residential programmes will allow us to work with young people on their social skills and team work, in an environment where they can take their minds off problems at home or at school. This is an important addition to our core work within the Youth Zone itself, and we are most grateful that it is supported by a respected local funder.
