what cyz offer young people
Our charity has been here since 2011, and today around 1000 young people a week come to our youth clubs. These run Monday to Friday evenings, and from morning into evening on a Saturday. All year round. In the school holidays we also run our popular Holiday Clubs which run in the daytime too. More on that below!
There are three clubs available. Juniors – young people age 7 until end of School Year 6. Seniors – from School Year 7 until they turn 18 and there’s also Inclusion Club on a Saturday morning for young disabled and/or neurodivergent people who may find the quieter more relaxed sessions useful.
Young people need a membership to attend, annual membership is £5* and each session is 50p* (cash on the door is best!) and if your child is under 16 you’ll need to complete the form for them. You can do that here.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT CYZ

what will they do?
Supported by trained youth workers, in club your child can access a huge selection of activities and opportunities at Carlisle Youth Zone. We help them make most of our state-of-art facilities and learn from our expert team and partners. Here’s just a flavour! Guitar lessons, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, climbing, day trips, football training with pro clubs, drama sessions, street dance, textile design, pottery, knitting, nail art, baking, CV building sessions, be in a band, community projects, design competitions and much, much, much more. All our club sessions are jam packed with fun and opportunity! We also run ‘courses’ on Wednesdays, for example a 6 week climbing programme. Members can ‘just turn up’ to any other sessions but Wednesdays are bookable in advance (still just 50p a session!). Find out what’s on here.
how we keep your child safe
For young people to have fun and stretch themselves, they first need to feel and be safe. To support their (and other young people’s) time with us we have Behaviour and Safeguarding policies and procedures in place, and in use! Our DAB certificated expert team include both physical and mental health First Aiders, and we work closely with partners too. As with any activity centre like ours there is small risk with any activity that young people partake in when at the Youth Zone. To ensure risks are managed, each area is manned by a member of staff so young people in each area are supervised at all times. The safety of every young person is paramount therefore all activities throughout the Youth Zone adhere to our Risk Assessments. Still have questions? Get in touch or check our FAQs.

what we offer parents
Apart from some time to get on whilst knowing your child is safe and having fun (!) we are also currently running our Parent Zone in partnership with Cumbria Family Support. An opportunity to connect and discuss common issues with other parents and experts. These free to attend sessions (with a cuppa and a biccy) cover topics like, supporting young people with anxiety, better understanding ‘What’s Going On Online’. Topics can be shaped by parents too so make the most of having the space, voice and time to share your parenting concerns. Want to know more? Get in touch.
