Carlisle Youth Zone provides a fun, safe and warm place for thousands of children and young people.
Last year, we ran our Winter Warm Zone campaign to enhance support to members and their families as they navigated the unprecedented scale and pace of the Cost-of-Living crisis, with many telling of the very real challenge of juggling eating and heating. In response, we launched our very first WWZ, removing our entry fee (50p a visit) and provided a free meal to all members.
During this period, we provided a phenomenal 12,579 free club entries, 7384 free hot meals, and 826 free annual memberships to young people over the period – it surpassed all our expectations in terms of reach and impact!
We know from listening to our members that many are once again worrying about what this winter is going to bring, and we are as committed as ever to doing what we can. We are therefore proudly launching our winter warm zone initiative again this winter.
The campaign will provide free entry and a hot meal to all young people throughout December and January.
We are asking those who can, to donate £5, – perhaps a parent, carer or grandparent who might be able to contribute towards the cost of 10 free visits for a young person (£5) or an employee of a local company who may want to use their office secret Santa towards free hot meals for young people (£10), or a community member looking to make a difference to local young people on National Day of Giving (28th Nov) by contributing £15 towards 3 annual memberships (these are all just examples!).
By donating to our Winter Warm Zone campaign, your support will help us to have even more impact, and provide young people with free entry, a free hot nutritious meal, and free annual membership this December and January, when more and more families are worrying once again what this winter is going to bring.
WAYS TO DONATE:
You can donate via SMS by sending a message to 70085 with “CYZ” followed by the amount – for example, a text of “CYZ5” to “70085” will donate £5 to our campaign.
Your text donation value plus your standard network charge will either be deducted from your available credit (for Pay-As-You-Go) or added to your phone bill the following month. All supporters must obtain permission from the billpayer before donating by text. Under 16s must have parent/guardians’ permission to send a text donation. Text donations are open to UK residents only. If we generate more income than we need to run the WWZ specifically, we will utilise excess funds for the purpose of children and young people accessing CYZ.
