Hi, I’m Fiona and I’m the Head of Business Support & Operations (& Deputy CEO) here at Carlisle Youth Zone.
It’s a very varied role, no two days are never the same and I never quite know what I’m walking into each morning… but that is exactly why I love my job!
I’ve worked in Carlisle Youth Zone since we opened – on my first day of employment back in January 2011 I go to have a look around the building site (as we were still being built then!) in my hard hat which is where I first saw the scale of the Youth Zone and saw the potential of what we could achieve for the young people of Carlisle.
I truly love my job as I work with an absolutely AMAZING team of staff and volunteers. But the best part is meeting the young people who walk through our doors – I love seeing just how fantastic and full of energy they are, but also listening to their views, ideas and stories which just blows me away every day. A saying I think about often is ‘Talent is evenly distributed but opportunity is not’ and I truly believe all young people deserve their opportunity to shine and fulfil their potential. Young people are just amazing, every single one of them.
