Q&A With Nathan
Nathan, what is it like to work at CYZ?
I started volunteering at CYZ when I moved to Carlisle in January 2013. After six months, I then became a staff member, that was five years ago. (But it doesn’t feel that long!)
Throughout my time at CYZ, I have worked across all 4 clubs as a youth worker, gym instructor and as a mentor. During a session, I can be found covering a team leader, in the gym or delivering various sporting activities. Oh, I also like to run around and scream…a lot!
Every day I look forward to coming to CYZ as it doesn’t feel like work in the slightest and that’s an amazing feeling to have! The team I work with are great and are always up for a laugh, but everything we do comes back to the young people as the focus. Every day I become part of hundreds of young people’s lives which makes it incredibly rewarding seeing them achieve something they thought they could never do, or simply grown up and transitioned from Junior to Senior club.
Tell us about your hobbies.
I like landscape photography and this sees me exploring the Lake District quite frequently to view it in a different way. I like to keep fit so run and attend the gym regularly- but this is more so I can eat what I want when I want because I love food!!
What’s your favourite memory from childhood?
Every night after school me and my friends would either be riding our bikes, playing football or playing crash bandicoot on the PS1 without a care in the world!!
